Barbara | yesterday, 4:07 PM by CAPonyGirl
I am a Barbara and I have always HATED my name. And…I really hate being called Barb. It really annoys me when people just assume it is OK to call me Barb when they don’t know me. If they ask, I tell them that Barb is not my name. Hell I’d rather be called Babs or Barbi than Barb. Actually, my older brother was supposed to be named Barbara. After three daughters in a row, my parents figured they were having another girl. He was born in Santa Barbara, CA where my father was a professor. We later moved to San Luis Obispo where I was born. Since, they couldn’t call my brother Barbara, I was given this awful old lady name. So, I was basically named after Santa Barbara and my grandmother. Barbara Evelyn Ugh double old lady name!

Unfortunately as someone that was going to use this name for my baby I'm due to give birth to in September, the 'dog' meaning ruins it for me.
I know everyone expects everyone to love dogs, but I can't stand them, and I wouldn't want to give my child a name that has anything to do with the horrible things.

Kaylene | yesterday, 8:59 AM by namesarecool285

Gwendoline | yesterday, 8:24 AM by name_critic
I love this particular spelling of Gwendolyn/Gwendolen/Gwendoline/you know what I mean already!!! I find it very pretty and melodic (and it makes me think of Gwendoline Christie, who is one of my favorite actors ever). The E at the end just makes it look balanced and complete to me (I don't know exactly why, but the other spellings seem almost unfinished?). Maybe I just read Gwendoline Christie's name too often, and I've been converted to the dark side! Don't know. It's a beautiful name, regardless of the spelling (for the most part). I'm sorry for using parentheses so much. I don't know what's wrong with me today. I'm ALSO sorry for saying that I "don't know" so much. I'm sorry for saying that I'm sorry so much? I'm gonna go eat lunch, I think. Get my brain back on track.

@SleveMcDichael
No, your comment is not only disrespectful but also incredibly immature. Mocking a name with strong cultural significance, however humorous it may seem, reflects poorly on your character. I assume you are an adult, so I hope you will take a moment to reflect on your words and be a little nicer next time you see a funny name. I understand where you're coming from, but there are nicer ways to put it. I sincerely apologize if my response seems harsh, but I believe it is important to strive for empathy in our interactions.
Porntip | 5/18/2024, 7:13 PM by Anonymous User
Isn't it just wonderful how some foreign names can hold such beautiful meanings? Porntip is a perfect example of the richness in names around the world. It is not disgraceful, nor should one be ashamed to bear it in places where English is widely spoken. It's disheartening to see this lovely name subjected to mockery. What's wrong with a bit more empathy and compassion? The world is better for the beauty of names such as these, even if others might put them to terrible purposes. Kindness makes the world a little bit brighter for everyone!✨
