Meaning & History

Possibly means "graceful spinner" from Greek χάρις (charis) meaning "grace, kindness" and κλώθω (klotho) meaning "to spin, to twist by spinning". This was the name of two characters in Greek mythology, one of whom was a nymph of Thebes in Boeotia, a close friend of the goddess Athena.
