Genuinely, why do people hate this name? I think it's pretty cool. Like, what is it that people don't like about it?(asking cause I wanna change my name to Lon, and I don't see any real cons of doing so. Like, Lon Chaney's neat, so what negative connotation does this name bring? Is just too much of a nickname-name that puts people off or what?)

Lon and Lonny were nicknames for ancestors in my family named Alonso with 's' not 'z'. Since we do not have Spanish heritage (English ancestry) that may be the reason for the 's'. Finally after 3 generations of Alonso there were two generations of Lon, just Lon. I always liked all combinations of the name.
